This stereotype is actually true as the University of Oxford recently concluded that men take more time to mature than women. The researchers say that brain development never stops even until an individual becomes an adult. There is even a good chance that the human brain can transition even during the maturation phase.

Entrepreneurs thrive in high-growth evolving markets. There is more revenue to compete for every year, and entrepreneurial innovation can be a key driver of value creation. However, every growth market must mature eventually, and entrepreneurs must be able to navigate the transition to maturity. Often the very basis for competition and value creation will change radically when a market matures. To take an extreme example, the U. Coke, Pepsi and Nestle collectively hold a significant share of the market and have held those shares over time, in part with acquisitions of emerging brands. Competition is oriented around price, brand-building and distribution channel. All three companies return significant cash flows to shareholders each year in the form of dividends and share buybacks. For example, energy drinks and bottled coffee beverages have been significant innovations in recent years. In both cases, though, these have been niche innovations.

Another one or two might joke that adulthood is the kind of thing that can remain elusive even after decades. And those refinements and improvements in neural coordination are heavily dependent on not only neurobiology, but also practice and experience. And this is all without even considering the influences of individual differences, which undoubtedly have a significant impact in the nature and timing of maturation. Despite the lack of a qualifying blue spot, new scientific findings regarding the brain, adolescence, and neurodevelopment are informing legislation and public policy across the country.
