The American Province has undertaken various apostolic works serving God and neighbor in a spirit of Franciscan joy since The above left icon depicts our spirituality and apostolic life. The icon of the hands represent our apostolic service of people. The sisters try to imitate Christ and his Mother, especially in the mystery of their simple, hidden life in Nazareth. Francis of Assisi is our model for imitating the human life of Jesus. Just as St. Francis did, Sisters Servants want to love the Cross, to do penance, and to joyfully discover God in all of his creation. The sisters also venerate the Immaculate Patroness of the Congregation by responding to her various appeals.

Our History

A daily prayer to St Joseph… and a challenge
The Servants of Mary, Ministers to the Sick, are a Roman Catholic religious institute of women founded in Madrid , Spain, in and dedicated to the care of the sick, poor, both in clinics, hospices and through home health nursing. The Religious Sisters of this congregation use the postnominal initials of S. In Torres y Acosta was a young woman, 25 years of age, who had felt a call to an enclosed religious order.
Radiating joyful service and promoting Gospel values
The community is contemplative-active, committed to evangelization through catechesis and retreats, according to the ideals of St. Francis and St. Dominic who rebuilt the Church in Truth and Charity. The Sister Servants run Casa Maria Retreat House, and also participate in family catechesis, Sacramental preparation, and other catechetical missions throughout the diocese, teaching "spiritual things spiritually. Our community hosts structured retreats open to individuals, couples, or groups, which run from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. They include conferences on the Faith and the spiritual life, daily Mass, Benediction, opportunities to pray the Rosary and Divine Office together, as well as time for private prayer and for the reception of the sacraments. Traditional bluegrass music is playful and energetic; along with American folk music, it often contains explicitly theological themes: belief in Christ, the goodness of life, the pain of unrequited love, the finality of death, and hope in eternal life.
Founded over years ago in Western Ukraine, the Sisters Servants strive to follow the example of their patroness, Mary, the Immaculate Mother of God. May you come to feel at home with the Sisters. May you find comfort, be enriched and grow in joy and peace, as you get to know them. The Sister Servants are witnesses of Christ, living out His Gospel in prayer, love and service, ennobling hearts wherever the need is greatest.. In the spirit of their founders, aware of their heritage, yet attentive to the signs of the times, in light of the Gospel, the Sisters are attuned to new directions in their mission.
